Of Butterflies, Frogs, and Spiders…..and a Visit to France!

Your love of the halflings leaf has clearly slowed your mind! (Saurman the White speaking to Gandalf the Grey)

Well, my mind is definitely slowing. Among other things. I really wish time could slow down. That would be helpful. Somehow I don’t think that is going to be happening any time soon. Ah, well.

Well I’m glad you’re back for another edition of the Hobbit Hollow Construction blog! Glad you stopped by and as they say in Brooklyn…Sup!

If you look up “sup” in the dictionary you’ll find that it translates into ” Hello, how are you, and are you having a pleasant day!” Interesting….. but I digress. As usual.

Like I was saying I’m pressed for time so I have to give you the short version.

Just quick. Georgia visited France this past week with a friend and really enjoyed it. We missed her but it was really great to see her becoming the world traveler. She really liked Paris. She sent me this picture.

Pretty cool. she said the city is really beautiful. I can’t wait to she her pictures.

On the home front the Tweedle brothers finished the sixth layer of styrofoam Friday. They got pretty good at it by the end. They were really sick of doing it by the end though. Almost out of time. Jude sent me a few pictures he took.

All done.
All done.

So when you’re doing this kind of work you get distracted. Well I guess you just notice things a bit more because anything you see gets highlighted by the styrofoam. Check out a few of the pictures Jude took while they were working.

Butterfliy.
Butterfliy.

Didn’t get a chance to identify this one but I’m sure Sally H. will be able to help us out.

Leopard frog.
Leopard frog.

The Leopard frog doesn’t do the ribbit-ribbit sound of most frogs. It does this little Leopard roar. It’s hard to hear but it’s pretty cool when you do hear it.

Just kidding. A little concrete humor there. This poor guy jumped into the styro cutoff area.

Jude took a series of pictures of this. I’ve never seen anything like it before. After they all hatched and spread out a bit they all got back into this huge huddle. I think they were saying goodbye to each other. When I saw that picture I just kept thinking of the Walton’s when they would say goodnight. You know goodnight Maryellen, goodnight JimBob. That sort of thing. Hmmm. I guess you kind of had to see the picture and been a fan of the show the Walton’s. My love of the halfling’s leaf is definitely slowing my mind.

I won’t be around next week but I’m hoping to post a few things about the high rise I’m working on. I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Take it easy!

Jim

  1. I cried a little bit from the last picture of the spiders; although that is kind of cool. Glad Georgia is home hope she had a wonderful trip!

    • Dear Casey: Firstly, I apologize for not responding. My fault as usual. I hope my laziness in responding doesn’t dissuade you from writing again. I really do appreciate your comments.

I’m glad your still reading the blog! I can’t say that for the rest of the clan over here. I thought the spiders were cool too. They happen to be one of my favorite insects.

I hope all is well and I hope to see you before you go back to school. Have a great rest of the summer!
